Richmond, VA — The lower temperatures and rain didn’t eclipse what was a glowing experience from some of Richmond’s most talented artists.
Last night, Thursday, February 19, Ty Sorrell, M.Y.L.O., and MP debuted the 5-track Waning Moon EP to a full house of supporters and friends at CNTR.
Hosted by TRS, the event offered a deeper way to experience the EP, featuring behind the scenes footage, fun moments, and an accompanying film for each song. The video work, directed by M.Y.L.O. Global, captured the city through their lens.

Most of the material was filmed during the Richmond ice storm, with familiar shots from the Virginia State Fair, aerial views of a glacier capped James River, and landmark sites like The Diamond.
The studio footage brought viewers into the trio’s creative process — moments that felt jumpy and sporadic, highlighting the key layers of sound and voice that contributed to the fun of this project. Seeing the reflection of the artists brought clarity and a deeper understanding of who they are. There wasn’t a single moment throughout the viewing that was void of joy and laughter.
A short Q&A by The Richmond Seen, facilitated by Eric Jackson and Anaiis Stewart, explored the inspiration behind the project, what it’s like making music with best friends, and how time away from the city helped them rediscover their love for it.

“Being away from Richmond,” said cinematographer M.Y.L.O., “finally made me realize what was so special about it. I think that’s why the energy is communicated through the music videos. This is pretty much how I see Richmond every day.”
Ty Sorrell ended the night with closing remarks:
“Respect Hip Hop as an art form. You ain’t gotta be super lyrical, but if you’re real, and that shit is authentic to you and your life. That shit is amazing. So Richmond and Hip Hop — that’s it.”
