New Music on Scene: A project from LBE Hunt, plus singles from Nickelus F, Aurora Sarose, and more
Love music? Looking for something new to turn up this fall and winter season? Richmond, and Virginia at large, has you covered. From introspective albums to feel good singles, the scene continues to deliver. Here’s a look at some of the sounds we’ve been vibing to lately.
LBE Hunt – Remedies
Remedies is a 13-track meditation rooted in memory and soul. LBE Hunt draws from jazz and early-2000s textures to explore his upbringing, present growth, and the lessons, the “remedies”, his mother instilled in him. It’s an album that feels like reflection made audible.
Skuzii – Lottery Ticket
Skuzii brings grown-up energy to his latest single. Themes of money, maturity, and responsibility weave through the record, wrapped in a cool, confident flow. It’s music for those of us balancing ambition with reflection.
Hernbean5150 & King Kaiju – King of the Hill
This single packs a bold, braggadocious vibe that sits comfortably next to Kaiju’s earlier joints Clarity and F.N.F.. Feels like a solo record might be on the horizon.
Nickelus F – O’Doyle Rules
Producer and wordsmith F continues to carve his lane, releasing a stream of gritty, sample-heavy singles. His latest, O’Doyle Rules, dropped in October, a showcase of the slick wordplay and production that have made him one of Richmond’s most consistent artists. Here’s hoping that full-length or beat tape isn’t far off.
P2P Rixh – My Lil S.H.I.T.
If P2P Rixh has anything to say about it, the energy’s not slowing down. His latest single, My Lil S.H.I.T., keeps the summer sun blazing down I-95, smooth, confident, and full of that timeless “pimp talk” style he’s mastered.
ShaelaSoul – Parked Car Conversations
A few months back, ShaelaSoul dropped Parked Car Conversations, opening with moody strings and piano chords that set the tone for an emotional journey. Shae’s storytelling pulls listeners into that in-between space of nostalgia and new beginnings. 5-tracks.
Aurora SaRose - Yap Talk
Richmond’s young “Queen pirate,” Aurora SaRose, drops Yap Talk, a hazy, nocturnal rap record with sharp edges and hypnotic beats.
Big Jazz - Alter Ego
Big Jazz out of Petersburg delivers full project, Alter Ego, an unapologetically Southern project packed with bass, attitude, and Black feminist fire. Whether she’s rapping or singing, she’s worth it.
ZayHova - The Councilmen Route
New faces are joining the mix. ZayHova’s The Councilmen Route brings precision and hunger.
Teja Vu - Big Wheels
Teja Vu, fresh off his RVA Music Fest performance, drops Big Wheels, the same track that lit up his live set. Keep an eye on both.
CJ The Profit - Love Yourself [unmastered]
Who else is putting out this many full length. projects in such a short time? Fresh off the release of his mixtape, A Pack of Loosies Vol. 9,” CJ drops, Love Yourself ft Ducttape Jesus, Lil Grits and more.
