Inside RVA Rap Elite Episode 68: Wins for YRI, Lxry Priize and Tre Awthenicc

Episode 68 opens at it’s new venue at The Park RVA, with an intense initiation battle, a Sound Clash, Tre Awthenicc securing his 13th win and more.

RICHMOND, Va. — Some of the best rappers in Richmond, Norfolk, and surrounding cities come out each month to lyrically spar, showcase new material, and incur feedback from the elite throughout the show. RVA Rap Elite Episode 68 started with a three-round initiation for Southpaw Battle Coalition, followed by a Sound Clash between Exit 23 and Lxry Priize, a performance from Era Hardaway, a birthday moment for Radio B’s son, an incredible Live Cypher with Henny L.O., Cane, Illa Styles, Radio B, and Habeeb, and rounded it all out with the Producers Live Cypher.

RVA Rap Elite allows for moments where emcees are supported and appreciated during the high moments and moments of learning.

YRI Steps Into the Battle

The initiation battle between YRI and TRVPSTAR put both emcees face to face, sparring with rebuttals that left them at times, speechless. YRI, who says she only used about 50% of her raps during the face-off, said, “I noticed that my competition was going off of the dome. I felt like maybe I could do that too, but next time, I'm gonna just stick to the plan and do what I came to do, which is deliver the bars that I spend time crafting.”

After three rounds, YRI was named the winner. Her exact plan after this win isn’t clear, but she does hope to make it to Southpaw and continue competing.

Era Hardaway has been rapping since the early 2000s, and his set reflected the maturity in his poise and demeanor.

Tre Awthenicc and Lxry Priize Add to the Night’s Wins

During the competitive 30 MC Cypher, Tre Awthenicc, scoring a 29.0, walked away with his 13th hoodie against high scorers like Geno The Dragon (27.0), Key Speech (26.5), and Dub T (26.0).

Lxry Priize walked away with a Sound Clash win, one step closer to competing against BDM for the coveted spot during this year’s Flag on the Moon event in December.

The Live Cypher was cooking, and per Cane, an emcee who is no stranger to the field said, “Even this white boy got seasoning.” Bar after bar. Emcee after emcee. These are the types of cyphers that you come to Rap Elite to experience. High-quality lyricism, stage presence, and bravado make up the emcees who touch the Rap Elite stage.
