RVA Music Fest Returns for its Third Year
In the wake of heartbreak, one local woman turned pain into purpose.
After the senseless killing of her close friend Xavier Brown in 2022, Richmond native and marketing professional Jasymyn Buckingham, decided to create RVA Music Fest to spotlight independent artists and uplift the youth of Richmond.
“The reason that RVA Music Fest was formed, unfortunately, a very close friend of mine, Xavier Brown, was killed in 2022,” Jazzy told a local news outlet. “It was just a senseless act of gun violence. Because of that, we wanted to come together to do something for the youth, for them to be able to have better mentors than some of the ones they’ve been presented with.”
Now in its third year, RVA Music Fest has become an incredible independent music festival event centered around unity, healing, and creativity.
Pitch RVA is Back
A completely free event with a suggested donation benefiting Richmond Public Schools, RVA Music Fest offers an opportunity to support Richmond’s independent music scene and shop with small businesses serving the city. To further its community impact, RVA Music Fest is teaming up with Supreme Talent, in partnership with G.O.A.T.S Recording Studio and the CCTC Foundation, to host Pitch RVA, a pitch competition offering a $500 grant to help bring one winner’s vision to life.
