At the 68th Annual Grammy Awards, many Virginian musicians were recognized for their talent and contributions to music. The Grammys took place on February 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California.

Mad Skillz won his first Grammy. Words for Days, Vol. 1 took home the Best Spoken Word Poetry Album award. For decades, the Richmond-native rapper has infused the city with a deep appreciation for culture and the power of words. After being nominated the year prior, he earned a well-deserved win.

Clipse (Pusha T and Malice) also won their first Grammy, taking Best Rap Performance for their song “Chains & Whips” featuring Kendrick Lamar and Pharrell Williams from the Let God Sort ’Em Out album (2025). The duo hails from Virginia Beach.

Also from Virginia Beach, Pharrell Williams received the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award, presented to individuals considered staples and major influences in Black music, creativity, and culture globally. (Note: This special honor is not included in the official winners list but has been widely reported as part of the event’s tributes and honors.)

From Woodbridge, Virginia, singer and songwriter Shaboozey earned a Grammy, winning Best Country Duo/Group Performance with “Amen” alongside Jelly Roll.

Northern Virginia was represented as well, with Danielle Wertz winning a Grammy for Best Instrumental Composition, joining esteemed past winners in that category.

We were well represented at the Grammys this year. There was also a tribute to Virginia legend D’Angelo during Lauryn Hill’s performance.

Virginia’s creative community continues to expand. No matter what, we’ll always be part of the conversation when it comes to music.
