Overview:
The Richmond Seen is looking for community-driven storytellers who care about Richmond’s culture, creatives, and conversations.
We are expanding our contributor team and seeking writers who are passionate about amplifying the voices of local artists, entrepreneurs, musicians, food vendors, organizers, and everyday people shaping our city.
This is an opportunity to build your portfolio, sharpen your journalistic voice, and be part of a growing independent media platform committed to telling Richmond stories with depth and integrity.
What You’ll Do:
Pitch and write original articles centered on Richmond culture
Conduct interviews with local creatives and business owners
Cover community events, festivals, panels, and performances
Collaborate with our editorial team on storytelling direction
Contribute ideas that reflect the energy of “New Richmond”
What We’re Looking For:
Strong writing and editing skills
Ability to meet agreed-upon deadlines
Comfort conducting interviews in person or virtually
Genuine love for Richmond and its people
Journalism, communications, English, or media students are encouraged to apply (but not required)
Writers should be curious, culturally aware, and able to write with clarity and voice.
This role is ideal for emerging writers, journalism students, creatives looking to expand their portfolio, or professionals wanting to contribute to meaningful community storytelling.
